Corrections policy and update history

Accuracy matters more than defending old wording. If something is wrong, the aim is to verify it, correct it clearly and leave an appropriate record.

Report a possible error

Email charlie@cremationguide.co.uk with the page address, the wording or figure you think is wrong and, if possible, a source. Do not send medical records, benefit letters or other sensitive personal information; it is not needed to investigate a website correction.

The report is tied to the affected page and claim.

2. Verify

The claim is checked against a primary or direct source wherever possible.

3. Correct

The page, date and any connected tools or data are updated together.

4. Explain

A material factual correction is added to the public history below.

What gets recorded publicly

Public material update history

Comparison tool: corrected first-load handling for a newly shared comparison and made an empty shortlist link behave consistently. Both faults were found and fixed during release checks before this policy was published.

Location guidance: added area comparison pages and expanded practical profile information with source and verification details.

National guidance: updated cited cost averages, reflected England and Wales medical examiner reforms, and strengthened links to named source material.

This log records material public changes known at launch of this policy. The project also retains a more detailed technical history.
