Privacy policy
The homepage promises nothing is stored. Here's exactly what that means, in specific, checkable detail — not just a reassuring sentence.

The decision tool: what happens to your answers
Every answer you give the decision tool is held only in your browser, for that visit. Nothing is sent to a server, logged, or saved anywhere by us.
Refresh the page, or close the tab, and every answer is gone. There's no account, no login, and nothing to delete later — because nothing was kept in the first place.
The PDF the tool can generate is built inside your own browser and never passes through our servers at any point.
We never ask for
Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact detail
An account, login, or password of any kind
Payment or financial details of any kind — this site has nothing to sell you
What our hosting provider unavoidably sees
Full honesty here, because "we collect nothing" can't quite be true of any website on the internet — the hardware in between has to work somehow. This site runs on Cloudflare Pages, and like essentially every hosting provider, it automatically logs basic technical information for every visit — your IP address, browser type, and the page requested — purely to keep the site running securely and to detect abuse. This is standard infrastructure-level logging, not something Cremation Guide requests, reads, or uses to identify you, and it isn't linked to anything you answer in the decision tool.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
No tracking cookies. No analytics software watching what you click. No advertising network, no retargeting pixel, no third-party script selling your attention to anyone. If that ever changes — and there's no plan for it to — this policy will say so plainly, with the date updated, rather than quietly adding a script.
Links to other websites
Several pages link to official sources — GOV.UK, mygov.scot, nidirect, the FCA register, and others — so you can verify things yourself. Once you click through, you're on their site under their privacy policy, not ours. We don't control, and aren't responsible for, how those sites handle data.
Your rights, under UK GDPR
Because no personal data is collected in the first place, there's very little to exercise rights over — which is rather the point. If you've ever emailed us directly, that email and its contents are kept only as long as needed to answer you, and you can ask for it to be deleted at any time. Full details of UK data protection rights are published by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's independent regulator for data protection.
Children
This site isn't directed at children, and it doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone — which, in practice, means it doesn't knowingly collect information from children either, or from anyone else.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and any meaningful change will be explained plainly rather than buried in legal wording.
